Want a Timeshare Dog?

Timeshare itself offers some atypical experiences – from castles to motor homes to houseboats.
But perhaps the oddest application of the timeshare concept is the family pooch.

For those of us who want the pleasure of owning a dog, but travel or housing rules make it difficult to commit to 24/7 ownership Flexpetz lets you own a dog for a few days or a few hours a month.

Specializing in rescue dogs, they currently offer shared ownership in New York, London and Los Angeles. On the horizon are programs in San Francisco, Paris and Boston. Of special interest to a certain family of four moving to a new house, a program is scheduled to open in Washington DC.

$99 per month and a minimum commitment of four days per month, at an additional $45, and fido is yours. Each member is provided with everything they need, from leash to feeding bowls to doggie bed. And food is included for each day the dog is at the home.

Members can sign up for different dogs each time they rent, or they can reserve the same pup each time. Training, for both the dog, and the screened members are included too.
